(Announcement) Workshop: The Publishing Process Demystified

Current co-editors of the S/HE Journal offer a workshop for you who are in consideration of submitting a paper to us and other academic journals during the 2025 Creatrix Studies Online Conference.

Session 10: Workshop

Time Time 9 (10-11:30 AM Fri 13th PT)

Title The Publishing Process Demystified

Facilitators Francesca Tronetti (USA), Helen Benigni (USA), Mary Ann Beavis (Canada)

Summary Submitting your work to a peer-reviewed journal can feel like a monumental task, and many times, we hesitate because we don’t understand the process or don’t feel like we have something to add. This workshop will take you through the steps from finding a journal to submit to, understanding the criteria, and working with an editor. The three presenters have been on both sides of the publishing equation, as hopefuls and editors, and bring unique perspectives on how to put your best work forward. While this is primarily for those looking to publish in peer-reviewed journals, we will also explain how to publish in other literary formats, such as e*zines, and tips on how to build your publishing background if you do not wish to focus solely in academia. Whether you want to write for a strictly academic audience, a topic-specific magazine, or share your art and poetry with the world, this workshop will help you understand the process and give you tips on how to find the publications that are looking for your work.

Come join us in this workshop and the conference itself, a feast of rich and exciting papers to be presented.
